
Fortunately, we are not a team short on talent and we love to laugh and work hard. We know that by some estimates 9 of 10 startups will fail, depending on the metric. Why should we be any different?
We don't have hubris and instead we have a profound humility for what we are striving to accomplish. We also have been fortunate to learn from the prior startups, both those that have flourished and those that despite talent, hard work, and great products have gone off the rails. A priori we decided that the following elements would have to be in place for us to have a better than average chance of succeeding: (1) develop products that patients and/or their families tell us they need; (2) a large number of individuals must need these products; (3) assemble a lean team with expertise in three critical areas, (i) clinically important ideas, (ii) bioengineering, and (iii) business acumen with a track record of getting products to market; (4) have a collaborative can-do team ethos; and (5) have as our guiding imperative getting a minimally viable product to market. Our exclusive focus on the patient-side of health care and our familiarity and comfort in both the inpatient and ambulatory space distinguishes us from many other HIT product development companies in health care today. And we're off!
